This was Cinders - I found him wandering by the River Mersey, Summer 2004. He was in a terrible state. Raw open wounds around both eyes, raw nose. Got him in the car, took him straight to the Vets. I thought he'd been burnt - hence the name Cinders - but he had a condition called Lupus.....basically he had no immune system. So any infection that came along, he got it. That's why his face and general condition were so bad.
Once you've named a dog, you can't really part with it.....so Cinders lived here with the pack.
He was so gentle and friendly, with a perfect 10/10 sit and cocked head if there was a chance you had food. He spend his days woofing the deepest, gruffest woof, due to so much damage having been done to his throat - and you can just see the last of his 'ski jump' nose - its just a lump of scabby dead skin that was about an inch high when he arrived! He was permanently on a cocktail of immune-boosting drugs, and steroids to keep infections at bay for the rest of his life.....sadly that last bit of nose never came off to give him his perfect profile back.....Cinders back legs finally gave out over Christmas 2006, and he's woofing with the angels now.
